In addition, the station has also brought some of RMN Networks’ most popular local programs (as in ‘Kini ang Akong Suliran’ and ‘Handumanan sa Usa ka Awit’) and distinguished voices (such as the comic tandem of Goliath and Teban). In fact, some of their programs are being streamed through Facebook Live, including the localized version of Straight to the Point primarily anchored by its station manager, RadyoMan Ramil Emborong. And, even after six decades, the station’s esteemed RadyoMen (plural form for RadyoMan) have continued that legacy, and also, it even took a much higher notch, particularly with the advent of social media. It was through DXIC that Iliganons began to become hooked to their radio sets through their news, commentary, entertainment and public service programs. And guess who made it all possible? It was Henry Canoy, the founder of what would become one of the largest radio networks in the country that started in Mindanao – the Radio Mindanao Network (RMN). To be exact, it is DXIC 711 KHz, whose last two call letters mean ‘Iligan City’.
(Just a tip: It was also on that very day when the city marked the feast day of St. It’s because it was on this exact day, sixty years ago, when the city’s first radio station on the AM band officially commenced operations. Radio broadcasting was something new for Iliganons back in the day. Pretty obvious, right? But in this case, this is another story, a different one, so to speak.
